These are compact, table-top devices, for studying the dynamics of unstable systems, using analog as well as digital controllers. Systems are available at very attractive university pricing. The units come in fully assembled form, and setting up takes just a few minutes. A multi-function PCI bus based DAQ board forms the hardware interface between the electromechanical plant and the controller software.

The systems are controllable from within MATLAB® environment and real time control is effected via Real Time Workshop (RTW). The user can try out various control paradigms with absolute ease. The researcher can also generate run time code for a target controller: be it PC based scheme or built around a DSP. Interface libraries, application software, and instruction material are included. All systems carry a warranty of two years.

The digital controller is simple to fine-tune as the controller parameters can be varied in real-time when the algorithm is executing, and changes take place instantaneously. This enables the student to notice the connection between the control modification and the resulting change in plant performance.
